June 27, 2019 Staff Meeting
Post date: Aug 5, 2019 9:59:00 AM
Welcome – why this meeting is important
Transparency
It’s part of our job to know what’s going on here
Where we are now – budget review
We have been making decisions based on finances
Now we can shift to making decisions surrounding performance – how do we know we’re doing our jobs well?
CRI = Revenue – discounts and direct costs = CTO -allocated costs – operating income – depreciation + gross = net income
YTD:
Revenue 2019: up $174k in programs, up $57k in development, up $86k total
Expense: program costs down $123k, payroll down $118k
Overall: turned around $263k this year so far
The hook is that most of our program money for the year is already booked
What we’re doing now
Evaluating what we actually do – review the big buckets
CRI depends on 9 programs:
Comp youth (-)
Let’s Row (-)
Adult (-)
Youth Rec (+)
Corp/Events (+)
Para (-)
IRL (-)
Stoller (-)
Military (-)
Solution: raise more money!
Looking at how we know we’re doing a good job
Where we go from here
Care for our community
Example: last summer was nuts! Much better this year because of four people (thank you Kane, Beatrice, Bode, Tristan!)
Never miss an opportunity to celebrate what we do
It helps us fundraise!
Re-organizing Let’s Row
Streamline middle school and Row Boston
We can do a better job recruiting kids and track them better if we are connected to them from middle school through high school
Measure our success better
Integrate this program as a meaningful group within CRI
IRL class starting next week
Six new fellows starting next week
Anyone who is around and available go to lunch at Charlie’s in Harvard Square – let’s integrate!
CRI coach talk on Thursday, July 18 at 5pm
Auditing IRL classes (Patrick)
Any full time staff can come audit a class – just let Pat know and he’ll get you set up
