Post date: Sep 11, 2018 3:28:29 PM
Fall Classic – and rumble on the river and Brighton Bangers
This is a rowing race, no bands this year, race raises money for outreach programs
All hands on deck for CRI staff. Theresa will assign tasks to staff
Greater community should use sign up genius to volunteer
Bonus – free beer and food!
Three more launch drivers needed. Boys and Girls coaches and other staff coaches. Talk to Kane or Beatrice
Winter programming planning underway
Nonna working on winter programming - look for announcements coming this week
Programs will include registration on mindbody – basically it’s a drop-in exercise studio with periodized options for training
Coaches that want to teach classes need to get the descriptions to Nonna
Goal is to have at least five people registered in each class
Many people coming from outside – speakers; lectures; classes – they don’t have to be rowing specific – looking for opportunities to get community members in the building and spend more time here
Lots of positions filled or in process of being filled
Andy Sayles, Youth Comp Boys – novice boys
Tori Hetman, Youth Comp Girls – working with Skye
Kasha Ambrose, RowBoston head coach
Ella Buitrago – social media and communications
Changed Theresa’s title – now private events and corporate events – any external people coming for events are going through Theresa
Beatrice is now manager of operations
New boatman starting soon
ED position is filled – more detail about Ted's intentions and the future of CRI at Tuesday meeting
Interviews for scheduler and travel coordinator are happening
Job postings are now on CRI website instead of CRI Coach
With new people and positions beginning we need to have more desks in admin area – moving desks this Friday
Crossfit Arsenal
They had a fire and the building was almost lost
Approached CRI to see if they could run some programs out of here
This is a good way to foster community – they are part of CRRL, we’ve partnered with them before, good way to support other local businesses
They are going to be running programs in the swale – they have small classes (approx. 15 people)
Being encouraged to park across the river in overflow parking
Concerns? Talk to Ted
Safety and athlete ability statement
Marily, Anna, Davie, Ellen worked on statement – re-enforces trust in staff
Coaches should feel like they can respond to certain situations in the moment and have the support of CRI
CRI has had an incredibly safe year so far - the fall is when colleges take risks so we must be careful, take extra time and be patient
Bottom Line: It’s just rowing… when we put ourselves or our crews at risk, we transition to putting health and life at stake (and it’s no longer about rowing). Be safe, be courteous, and keep an eye out for everyone out there
There are rowers and coaches who can be very rude on the water. Please don’t engage, it’s just a red hot rowing minute. Take the temperature down – by acknowledging but not engaging. Better to take the bullet than create a toxic river environment.
What Works Summit – Patrick Larcom
Being held on Feb 2nd and 3rd, 2019
Coaches should look for registration link soon
Share with friends
Will most likely sellout at 120
If you have staff who want to register, contact Patrick
